“The same incredible client, but a different collection gave Monique more food for thought today. “The collection of masks offered another opportunity to create a still-life in one of the most important rooms in the house. We made sure that they were sensitively arranged, tailoring each bespoke stand to create changes in height. Monique is taking over the account this week contemplating The Power of Collecting: “I’m quite emotionally attached to objects that remind me of people and places. I have a collection of stinkwood bowls that came from my grandparent’s home that have so many memories embedded in them — you can almost feel their handprints in the glossy curves. For our wedding, we were given a Leopard stone sculpture by them from Kirstenbos botanical gardens that I cherish. Unusual objects are a passion in our family, and I have taken that thread with me in life and continue to weave it. My son Elliot has become addicted to playing chess. The Queen’s Gambit has only furthered the obsession. When a client asked me about a great chess set I thought of this one from @giobagnara – either the three game set, or if you really want to splash out, try the Venezia Game Table.
