The traces of time are drawn one on top of another, infused into the changing skin of the rigorous metal forms that define these cabinets and chests.
Like the tide (marea in Italian) leaves its mark, wave after wave, even here the hand of the craftsman has left its sign, oxidation after oxidation, creating a painterly effect that resembles water’s erosion of the material. Somewhere between design object and work of art, each piece in the collection, composed of a chest of drawers, low credenza and cabinet, is unique thanks to an entirely hand-crafted finish that transforms the metal surface into a delicate watercolour.
BRAND HIGHLIGHT
Contemporary design is fundamental to De Castelli, and the company has created its own collections of furniture and products in collaboration with some of the world’s leading designers. Bookcases, storage units, tables, chairs and lighting are shaped in hammered brass, mottled copper, weathered steel and délabré brass. Working closely with architects and designers on bespoke commissions, as well as offering finishes and furniture for domestic use to consumers, De Castelli’s stated aim is to “bend metal to the requirements of different spaces and uses, to shape it to the tastes and desires of a sophisticated and demanding clientele”.

Zanellato & Bortotto
Giorgia Zanellato and Daniele Bortotto, the young Italian duo behind studio Zanellato/Bortotto. They met in Lausanne, Switzerland, where they both studied product design at ECAL. After their studies in 2013 they founded their studio together in Treviso in northern Italy, where they are still based today.
