A history-making 1973 design by Afra and Tobia Scarpa for Molteni&C, Monk reemerges in 2025 with this exclusive re-edition, part of the Heritage Collection.
Available both as a versatile chair for the dining area and an armchair for the living room or bedroom, Monk is defined by its pared-down aesthetic that highlights the expressive qualities of leather against solid wood. Eight burnished steel rivets secure the seat to the frame, bringing a subtle decorative accent to this exquisite design. The solid wood frame, crafted from American walnut, is available in black oak or coffee oak finishing. Made of two leather sections, the seat and backrest are available in any color from the Molteni&C collection.

BRAND HIGHLIGHT
"A long ride, with a few obstacles and many challenges, from 1934 to the present. And the feeling that it is never enough... No, "knowledge" is not enough anymore, but we have a magnificent obsession for quality every day and in every detail."

DESIGNED BY
Tobia Scarpa
Tobia Scarpa (Venice 1935) works in the field of architecture, design and restoration. Tobia Scarpa graduated in architecture from the University of Venice in 1969 and in that same year won the “Compasso d’Oro”. He has received many other awards as a designer. Some of his works are also on display in the world’s most important museums. With regard to architecture he works with public and private clients, such as the Benetton Group for which he designed the entire industrial complex. The designs for Benetton are still today considered an aesthetic-functional paradigm and a shining example of industrial architecture (work displayed at the 2012 Biennale in Venice).
