The structure is an enveloping shell made of structural polyurethane foam, while the seat cushion is in goose down with a core insert in crushproof material. The sophisticated aesthetic language that distinguishes the Guscio sofa is also expressed in the design of the solid wood base, in various colors, or metal, in a number of finishes. The Guscio sofa comes in two widths: 128 cm width with base in wood or metal, and 220 cm width that is only available with the metal base.

Antonio Citterio

Antonio Citterio was born in Milan in 1950 and completed his studies in architecture at the Milan Polytechnic. In 1981 he started his practice in architecture and interior design, together with his Californian wife, Terry Dwan. Since 1999 Antonio Citterio has been teaching at the Academy of Architecture of the Università della Svizzera Italiana, Mendrisio, Switzerland. A number of Citterio’s pieces for Kartell are in the permanent collections of MOMA in New York and the Pompidou Centre, Paris. Antonio Citterio is probably most well-known for his furniture designs for Flexform, including the Groundpiece modular sofa system and the ABC armchair.
