The Wire Collection, designed by Jasper Overgaard and Christian Dyrman, was conceived as an innovative synthesis of two distinct and time-honored crafts: saddle making and precision metalwork.

“With the Wire Bar Stool we aimed for a piece of furniture that works beautifully standing alone, but yet with strong references to the rest of the Wire Collection. We wanted to make an elegant stool that substantiates the idea of using traditional saddle making techniques combined with a cleverly thought steel structure. We like the idea of keeping structural elements and different materials separated and to focus on how graceful interactions between materials and individual parts can be achieved.“

Founded by friends in 2013, Overgaard & Dyrman is a contemporary design studio and furniture maker based in Denmark. Taking the best from past and present, the studio marries traditional techniques with modern technologies to craft organic shapes in luxury materials.

Jasper Overgaard & Christian Dyrman

After meeting at Aalborg University in 2005, Jasper Overgaard and Christian Dyrman began working on several student projects together. Three years later, and with a Bachelor of Science on their CVs, they both moved to Copenhagen and started at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts Schools of Architecture, Design & Conservation, from where they graduated in January 2011 with a Master of Furniture and Spatial Design. What started as a friendship between two classmates, grew into a collaborative partnership. The studies became a playground for exploring crafts, to gain comprehensive knowledge about materials and technologies, and to evolve individual and collaborative skills. Those years undoubtedly set the foundation for what would later become Overgaard & Dyrman.
