Le Refuge de Solaise was a revelation. The twin human needs of refuge and prospect – coined by Jay Appleton – are magnificently captured in this chalet hideaway.
Looking down the Solaise mountain into Val d’Iseres and beyond to Tignes, the Refuge offers a sensorial and logistical escape into nature. You reach the Refuge on skis or by cable car and can only go back down to the village on two nights every week.
The design decisions are deliberate and further the feeling of escape. Raw vernacular materials combined with curvaceous carved furniture, cane details, and evocative touches of whimsy – the fringed tassels on the barstools were a favourite touch – and the interiors were perfectly balanced to allow the views to shine.
The final ingredient beyond the creation of refuge and the towering windows to prospect: the people. Thank you to an incredible team at the Refuge who made our stay so peaceful and restorative.

Collected within these pages are some of the most dedicated, passionate and talented makers working in the world of furniture today. Edition 2 brings even more new and exciting additions.
Before furniture was mass-produced, the hand of the maker was always visible. At Tollgard we have always been fascinated by stories —by the artists and craftspeople behind the pieces and brands. Our search to bring them together has been going on for more than fifteen years. The red thread —the creative DNA —that binds these makers from more than a dozen countries is the value they place on how things are made, the questions of living that they answer, and the honesty of their ingredients. The result: pieces that engage and endure. Stories that intrigue.
The celebration of the handmade across all corners of the globe has utterly captivated us. Beautifully functional design and the hand-working of metal, leather and wood have created its own language reminiscent of the principles of mid-century modern: less is more, honesty in manufacturing techniques and truth to materials. From Ceccotti Collezioni, Overgaard & Dyrman and Van Rossum on our European shores; to the East Coast heroes found at BassamFellows, Token, Skram, Juniper and RBW; to the South African artisans at Indigenus and Okha – we see a richness and a rawness that makes it hard to look away.
Welcome to our Brand Book. We are so proud to bring this collection to you.
Designed by Tollgard & Castellani, this contemporary piece invites audiences to engage.
We are excited to announce that the Ekero rack has been recognised at this year’s European Product Design Awards. A winner of the home interior products category, this functional sculpture features a cylindrical marble base and an elegant pewter frame. Crowned with CNC machined walnut components, details like a non-slip trouser insert and leather coin pad complete this marriage of design and function.
Tollgard & Porada
The design partnership between Porada and Tollgard began with a shared love of great furniture design and a love of functional sculpture. As they approach each new collection, Staffan Tollgård & Filippo Castellani explore the balance of form and function within each piece, striving to create objects that capture the imagination.

Tollgard Lighting Highlights – Lights to brighten up your day
Featured in the Design Centre’s Lighting by Design showcase, Tollgard is proud to offer a curated selection of some of the finest lighting brands in the world. From the gentle yet captivating glow of Bocci’s handblown glass spheres to the strongly simple forms of American studio Juniper – the opportunities to excite and illuminate are endless.
Bocci 28 Table Lamp
The 28 Table Light originated from a fabrication process that manipulates both the temperature and the direction of air flow into blown glass. The result is a slightly distorted sphere that houses an opaque orb of light that emits a gentle yet captivating glow. Founded by Omer Arbel in 2005, Bocci has become more than just a maker of beautiful glass luminaires. It brings together architecture, sculpture, invention, and design as each piece artistically and poetically explores the medium of light.
Details: 3” diameter base with 90” long flexible cable
GUBI Gravity Table Lamp
Grounded by its marble base, the Gravity Lamp from Copenhagen based design studio, GUBI elegantly juxtaposes strength and fragility with this sculptural design. Designers Space Copenhagen aim to forge new paths by balancing opposites in their work. The contrast of these materials creates exciting new objects like this contemporary table lamp.
Details: 41 x 29 x 65cm, black marble, white shade
Juniper Thin Task Table Lamp
Redefining minimal lighting, the Thin Task Lamp is strikingly simple aesthetically. With its adjustable articulating hinge, it seamlessly adapts for functional tasks. A polished choice for desks across residential and commercial spaces. Based in New York, Juniper is an award-winning, fully integrated manufacturing and design studio with an unwavering belief in the transformative power of good design.

Details: 50 x 24cm, White Plaster
Giorgetti Nao Lamp
Almost spiritual in its presence, the Nao lamp pays homage to the Greek word for temple. Bringing light from darkness, it offers a peaceful warmth from its structure of solid polished maple and metal. It is a particular favourite of Tollgard showroom founder Staffan Tollgård.
Details: 39 x 25 x 54cm, White
Man of Parts Mainkai 5 Floor Lamp
The Mainkai 5 Floor Lamp is inspired by the spherical fishing floats and mooring buoys of the Mainkai river in Frankfurt. From the Man of Parts studio, this wonderful table lamp features hand-blown glass globes strung above a decorative marble base. All hand-made by craftsmen in Germany.
Details: 30 x 121cm, Bronze with Marble
Cattelan Italia Planeta Table Lamp
The Planeta Table Lamp plays with proportion as two lampshades of blown satin white sit on either side of a burnished brass frame. Created by contemporary Italian makers, Cattelan Italian, this interesting design is available in a range of finishes including a pendant edition.

A celebration at the DRIVEN x DESIGN London Design Awards!
The gold goes to Dojo, Interior Design, Co-Working and Studio Space. Our thanks go to the judges, our collaborators BDG Architecture + Design and the entire Tollgard team – having worked together to create a hybrid space that connected the essence of home with the functionality of the office.
A truly flexible workplace, the Dojo offices connect the essence of home with the functionality of the office. Situated in London’s Brunel Building, the founders expressed that they wanted the best of both worlds – a flexible, professional workspace that reflected the start-up spirit of the business. With no room for cute, this was a project rooted in balancing structure with chaos.
We were honoured to collaborate with workplace and office design specialists, BDG architecture + design to create this hybrid space which met our clients’ need for spaces for casual collisions and cross-functional working. With 3000 sqm. across two floors, there are several places for people to come together – including open meeting tables, booth seating and meeting rooms – as well as a central hub that acts as the epicentre of the two floors.
The results speak for themselves
An innovative workplace that feels effortlessly modern and most importantly, works for its people.
